My Rating: (★★★★) I went into reading City of Bones after purchasing the movie on itunes in order to watch it. I am really glad I watched the movie before I read the book! (For once) Normally I try and read the book before seeing the movie but I'm almost always disappointed in the movie when I do that, except for The Hunger Games, loved them both!
If I had read the book before seeing the movie I would have been irked by what Valentine looked like in the movie, no hate for Jonathan Rhys Meyers or anything but he's NOTHING like how Valentine is described.
But, whatever, I liked the movie and I liked the book! Valentine sounds a lot more scary and formidable in the book than on screen. I thought that the characters were pretty likable, and even though I think that the love triangle in Young Adult (especially paranormal) books is a bit overdone (cough The Hunger Games cough The Mortal Instruments cough Twilight), it was fine in this book. Poor Simon though!

I liked the chemistry that I found between Jace and Clary, until I got to the end. The whole brother/sister thing squicks me out and frustrates me because I liked them together so much. The ending from the book to the movie is SO different too. I don't know how they're going to do that if they continue the movies, they won't be close to the same as the books at this point will they?
Anyway, I love the Shadowhunter world, can't wait to continue reading them! (I'm actually finished with both City of Ashes and City of Glass but am taking a break to read other things before reading City of Fallen Angels).
