My Rating: ()  I might get stoned for this, but I didn't really like The Wizard of Oz.  I found it to be repetitive and too simple for even a child's story.  I couldn't help thinking that I enjoyed the movie much more than the book because the characters are so much more colorful and interesting in the movie.  I don't think that there is anything that I can find good to say about it, other than it has been a great inspiration for wonderful works such as Wicked by Gregory Maguire and the musical based upon THAT book.  Saying that, I have to be truthful and say I haven't actually read Wicked, but I have seen the musical, and I loved the musical!

So, I'm not sure I will read the rest of the Oz books, and I'm a little sad that I didn't enjoy this Children's Classic.  Happy Reading!

it's been a year!?

Blows dust off the old blog. *coughcough*

Hi!  I'm sure if you are reading this, you're probably wondering, "Who on Earth is this?" But I have to assure you, that I used to be quite good at keeping up with my blog here at demure connoisseur.  I swear!  But then that second pregnancy happened, and full time Mommy-hood to two little boys under 2 1/2 years of age, and well..  there wasn't much reading going on.

Even now, for 2013, I've only read 3 books.  That's a book a month if you are good at math.  Heck, even if you aren't good at math, that's pretty simple problem solving so I'm sure you can understand it.

I think that I will update with those 3 books in the next couple of days, and you can forgive me (or not) for being gone for so long.  I really was only keeping up with family on Facebook and friends on Livejournal for all of the last year, and well, Livejournal is slowing dying a slow and gruesome death, and really just isn't the same as it used to be.

Here are the sources of my disappearance for all to see:

Colton (my 29 month old)

J.D. (my 9 month old)

Bruno (my 4 month old)

There you have it.  These are my excuses, and with that, I'm going to get my booklist out for 2013 and get to posting the first review in over a year.
